On
October 28, 2007 a team led by James T. Ketchum, Alex Hearn, and A. Peter
Klimley set sail to Darwin and Wolf Islands, part of the Galapagos archipelago,
to tag whale sharks. The following day, the group succeeded in tagging a female
whale shark with a signature tag. The shark was 11 meters long with a noticeably
large pelvic area - a possible indicator of pregnancy.
